On June 9th our centre director Bryan Stewart met English language teachers from Bulgarian state schools duiring a seminar organised by Prosveta publishing house.
It was great opportunity for the teachers to get ideas how to make their lessons more interesting and to grab and keep the attention of their students in class.
You can find below the preamble to Bryan’s presentation.
“What exactly is the best method for eliciting free and open speech in class?
In truth the material is all there, it’s all in the course book you are using and it just needs to be brought to life.
Subject matter is of the utmost importance. We need to manipulate course material, tailor it, shape it and make it enticing, make it fun, make it relevant.
There is a plethora of areas in which teenagers will openly engage. Number one being themselves! It never, ever fails. Mould your material to focus on the most important member of the class and you win every time.
This is our philosophy at the Caledonian School and it has held us in good stead for over five years now. For Real!”
